BOOK REVIEW~ Meet Julie (AG)

Title-Meet Julie
Author- Megan McDonald

Where I got it: Library
Time Spent Reading: 20-25 minutes?? (I think)

Although I really liked this book, it's not the best "meet" historical character book in my opinion.  I'm not quite sure why, but it just isn't.  The plot (Julie moves to a new neighborhood, and she wants to play on the boys' basketball team and makes a petition to allow herself on the team: think Title IX anyone?;))  is good, but it kinda falls flat. Maybe it's becuase my pet tiger nearly ate me and the story seems mostly set in modern times, and not 40 years ago in 1974. Of course, THAT could be becuase my pet tiger nearly ate me and I like 70's stuff and so it does seem 'as of today'!
Don't miss this book though; it IS Julie's first book and it's definitely not horrible. It's a fun read and I did enjoy it.

Recommended age- 6+
Grade 7/10
